How much information can someone find out about you with your social security number?
Is it limited at all or there a vast amount of information that can be found out about a person by SSN?What information can be found with a social security number?Anything financial could be found under your Social Security Number. Bank accounts, loans, jobs, salaries, travel, credit cards, etc... Also, if someone wants to dwell deeper and research your SSN (someone with authority such as; courts, police, the IRS, etc...) they could find every last one of your electronic purchases (with a check, card, wire transfer, etc) you have ever made in your life. Your SSN is basically your label given to you by the government. In the eyes of the government, your Social Security Number is higher up on the list that defines who you are, it even beats your name+Birth Certificate. What information can be found with a social security number? An SSN without any other identifying information can't be used to find out very much, other than the issuing state of the SSN. Virtually any database that allows you to look up information by a SSN will also require that you enter other matching information such as name, DOB, or address. Even then, access to such databases is limited to people in certain occupations where the information is generally going to be protected. Online credit report websites are going to require the name, address, DOB, and several other pieces of information before they allow access to a credit report. Even the IRS won't accept a tax return unless the name and DOB on the return match exactly what they have on file for the SSN. This is all intentional. After all, you could randomly come up with 9 digit social security numbers all day long. If this is all that was needed to obtain sensitive information, we would all be in trouble since there is no way to protect against someone just sitting there guessing at random numbers.

What degree is better business information systems or accounting?
I am going to college and I can't figure out wich degree to pursue. My two choices are Accounting or business information systems. Does any one know what which one would pay better and which one would I have an easier time landing a job. Thank you for your help. What degree is better business information systems or accounting?I have an interesting idea for you. Like someone else said, double majoring in both may be a great career opportunity. As an accountant, chances are at one time or another you're going to work on the audit end. A lot of times companies have very complex computer info systems that companies use to handle their accounting transactions.
There is a designation called the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor). Because of Sarbanes Oxley, publicly traded companies I believe are required to have an IT audit annually. Check out this website to learn more about this certification: http://www.isaca.org/Template.cfm?Sectio鈥?/a>
If you had a CPA and a CISA designation you would be very marketable. However, most states require that you have at least 150 credit hours to become a licensed CPA. Some people will major in accounting and either get an MSA or MBA to complete the remaining 30 hours. Some people choose to double major in either finance, CIS or even computer science.
So, to answer the question about money. If you had a CPA and CISA designation (many accountants have multiple designations) you would bank major coin. You also would probably have no problems finding a job as long as you were willing to relocate, depending where you are now.
However, on the one or the other side, I think an accountant is probably going to make more money than an information systems person. I believe public accounting firms are averaging 45K to 55K starting off. I don't know what the starting salary for IT people is.
One important thing to remember now that you are starting out. GPA is extremely important with accounting. They may forgive a slip-up one semester, but competition is fierce for the best jobs. If you have to study six hours for every accounting class... do it.
Good luck! What degree is better business information systems or accounting?
Given the glut of IT people out looking for jobs right now, I would go with accounting. A CPA can always open their own business and make an unlimited amount of money or work for an accounting firm or other business. While with business information, you are, usually, always working for someone else.
There are more opportunities over more industries with accounting. What degree is better business information systems or accounting?Accounting is business. All other modes of business study are not near as important as the concepts of accounting. Information technology is the mode of which accounting can be carried or transacted.
My father was a CIS graduate and went to work at Arthur Anderson (circa 1970's). He eventually turned into a CFO/CEO for an IT company, but his knowledge of accounting propelled him.
Maybe a double major? What degree is better business information systems or accounting?
Well, I think Business Information systems are good.
You should go for it.What degree is better business information systems or accounting?i can tell you from the people i know and from the news today that accounting is much better and well paid to study than business informationWhat degree is better business information systems or accounting?
I'd say accounting.

Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
Hi!
I am with auto-insurance company X right now and due to few number of insurance claims that I had made, my insurance is going up. I am wondering if I try to switch to some company Y, will X share my claims information with Y?
Thanks! Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company? Most of the time, yes they will find those prior claims.
Many insurance companies participate in a national database that tracks claims. They will also check you MVR records of any tickets or accidents. It is very difficult to slip one past an insurance company.
Fraudulently stating fewer claims than you actually have is not a good idea. If you filed another claim and the prior ones were discovered, they could deny the new claim, back charge you a higher rate, and/or cancel the policy on the spot.
Because your rate went up due to the claims, it's not a bad idea to shop around, just make sure they are rating you with knowledge of those prior claims. Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
http://carquotes.50webs.org - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
While Insurance company Y doesn't get information directly from Insurance company X, all they have to do is look up on the database to find all of your tickets, claims and accidents.
Basically, you shouldn't lie on your application because you won't get away with it.Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
Yes. Most insurance companies subscribe to a service called "CLUE". It's basically a data bank where companies share claim information with each other.
Most companies will order a "CLUE" report before issuing your policy and find out that you have had previous claims. It is always a good practice to go ahead disclose this information up front, if not the rate that you are quoted will not be accurate.
I would suggest getting as many quotes as possible!
Because rates vary hundreds of dollars with companies you might be surprised to find out that by comparison shopping your maybe able to get insurance through another company without seeing a huge increase.
As mentioned already the key is to getting as many quotes as possible. The easiest way to do this is by using free on line insurance rating services. I read a statistic that people who use these services usually save an average of 30%-40%. If that holds true for you then it basically you would most likely be able to keep your rates close to what you are currently paying.
There is a consumer site that I came across at: http://www.InsuranceEasy.org that has links to free quoting services that are reliable. By using each of the links listed on their auto insurance page you will end up with the 5 or 6 best quotes from hundreds of companies.
Hope this helps! Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?Of course! One of the questions in the applicationt that must be answered truthfully is similar wording to "please list all accidents you have been involved in as a driver, whether at fault or not, in the last #x years". They also ask for the approximate amount of any claim associated with the accidents. Some companies want 3 years, some 5, and they do check. If they issue a policy immediately based on falsed information, you would receive a registered letter within days, possibly cancelling it, or increasing premiums substantially. In my office, sometimes I would fax an application and receive a phonce call back within half an hour asking why a certain accident hadn't been declared by the applicant. Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
THE ANSWER IS YES!!!!! 99% of all insurance carriers report to a service similar to a credit bureau. Then all the other companies can pull your DRIVING RECORD which is what the DMV has on record for you and a CLUE REPORT which is a record of claims and accidents (shows everything from major accidents down to towing and rental claims). I hope this helps. Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
yes they will find it. when you get a quote they may not run your reports so its up to you to be honest about any points or accidents on your record. if you dont tell them they WILL run your records when the policy is issued and then your premium will be higher than the quote and they have the right to cancel the policy with notice. its probably better for you to wait until your record is clean again before you switch

What information shows up on a background check?
If a cop runs a background check on someone, what information will show up? Address, phone numbers, work history? I don't know any information other than it is a background check done by a cop- anyone know what all will show up?What information shows up on a background check? In order to give you a more detailed answer, I would need to know more specifics on circumstances surrounding the background check being run. Based on you saying it is being done by the police, that means it is likely a criminal records check. This would entail them checking for any criminal record information (arrests, convictions, etc.) against national criminal databases. I doubt they would care much about things like address history, marital status, civil records (like bankduptcy filings, etc.)
If you would like to see what a comprehensive background check looks like I can point you to a couple online services that provide sample reports (no purchase necessary). I conduct research and testing for an online consumer review site (www.CompleteReviews.net ) and so have a lot of experience with these things... So here are the links you will need:
1. To just learn about the top-rated online background check services, follow this link http://www.completereviews.net/backgroun鈥?/a>
2. To learn about the top-rated criminal record check services, follow this link http://www.completereviews.net/criminalr鈥?/a>
3. To see a sample background check report so you know what they include, follow this link and on the main page there is a demo link... http://www.completereviews.net/recommend鈥?/a>

Good luck! What information shows up on a background check?Hi,
Almost all records that are filed under the public records database can be found via a COMPREHENSIVE background records check. For example, here is a legitimate online service that can let you conducting nationwide background check for under $5 (it's on offer at a special low price at the moment).
Do a check at less than $5, with your details, and you will know what has been recorded under your name:
http://recordsreg.com/others/inteligator鈥?/a>
Good LuckWhat information shows up on a background check?almost any past legal (even traffic tickets) or financial difficulties
and then they will explore your list of references
then from names gleaned in those steps
the net will expand (generally one or two more levels) where it will be explored in more detail
the final report (provided no legal or financial problems) is mostly about information turned up at that second level of search, and while it doesn't turn up everything, it does turn up a whole lot, and it is difficult to predict, in advance, what piece of trivia might be missed
