a fish/ some fish in a big tankWhat are good pets for children to have?Fish or maybe even hamsters are ideal pets for children. It can teach them responsibility without having too much. And those are pets that if you end up having to take care of them, at least they're pretty easy to deal with unlike a dog or cat which requires much more attention. What are good pets for children to have?
I always had hamsters, they're pretty cool. And they're the least smelly of all the small pets I've had. (Bunnies, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters) As long as you aren't mean to the pet, they should be fine with kids (although, my bunny is crazy, and I'm not sure why). What are good pets for children to have?Whatever small species of pet you get the key to a good pet is handling them from the day you get them. Rabbits and Guinea PIgs are great for kids but will be afraid of being handled if consistent careful handling is not started as soon as you get themWhat are good pets for children to have?
Cats make delightful pets. You can teach them things and they are smart, too. Also, very loving. What are good pets for children to have?
I know you want to get a guniea pig or something but honestly you should get a golden retriever. They are really gentle creatures. gentle enough for kids. And they don't screech at night like rats and guniea pigs and stuff. They are fun, friendly and very protective over there family. Trust me they are the best kind of pets for your family.
No children under 5 years old should have a pet (unless they don't handle it themselves). Children under this age do not know how to properly handle a small animal without injuring it. However if you want a pet, just try to do most handling yourself and slowly teach your child to be gentle.

I think soccer_crzy's right, you should get a big pet that's also good with kids.
