What pets are best when you have a full time job?

I love dogs, but I work full time so I'm concerned about leaving them on their own all day. I would like a pet that will give me a feeling of companionship, so something like a goldfish simply won't do. Any suggestions appreciated. Are cats in particular a good idea? Are they ok on their own for longish periods? What pets are best when you have a full time job?I've been a cat owner for over 25 years and they are a good choice as a pet when you have to leave them alone all day. They use a litter box so they don't have to be let out. Unlike dogs that will eat as much food as you put out, you can put dry cat food out and they will only eat what they want. They also don't get so bored that they chew the house up to get back at you for leaving them alone. I've often left mine alone for up to three days with a clean litter box, plenty of food and water in place and they do fine. Any longer than three days and you need someone to check and scoop the litter box as some cats will quit using them if it gets to dirty leaving you surprises in unexpected places. What pets are best when you have a full time job?

hmm....do you want an indoor dog or outdoor dog? outdoor dogs are better for fulltimers like yourself, since a indoor dogs are usually smaller, and tend to want more attention than bigger dogs....however, dogs are generally the same! so its up to you, the type of dog you want.

cats are more chill and can stay longer by themselves....dogs actually miss you! hahahaha and cats dont really care if youre there or not..just get them lots of toys and a scratch post or something ya know? and they'll be fine. hope that helped! What pets are best when you have a full time job?If you work long long hours and tired to pamper...best are animals with full freedom and not humanly attachable...here are some:

1.those big fishy(flowerhorn, arowana) %26amp; i dont mean those cute gold fish(they can be spoilt a bit)...

2. Iguana ... he wont care but we know he does..i think..

3. chickens.. ( provided u have those self feeding systems)

4. Hamster (again,self feeding system - water n food)

5. Rabbits (again, self feeding or just leave the food there b4 work)

whatever you do, dont get cats/dogs/birds/monkeys...they will be very lonely and would just leave when u dont give enough attention..

good luck!
Cats would be a better bet. They tend to sleep alot during the day and do much better alone then dogs. What pets are best when you have a full time job?

yes cats can stay in a house for a long time only if you leave them with enough food and water for a day. and if you are on vacation just leave lots of food and water around the house and that should last themWhat pets are best when you have a full time job?
A cat is a good companion!
Sounds like you need something that can live in a cage.

I think it is very difficult on a pet or pets to be left alone long hours of the day, 5 days a week .... they really hate it and fail to thrive and grow properly ..... they like companionship and they like to be friendly and cared for .... if you really want companionship, you should make some human friends ....

My mother had a set of friends she called her sewing circle. They met once a week, each week at a different house belonging to each one of the ladies. They all brought their lunch, but the lady whose house was "it" for the day, served tea or coffee and maybe a little cake. It made for much shared chat, discussion about important and unimportant matters, a great swap of sewing problems and techniques and everybody had a good time.

Maybe you could find something of the sort for yourself.

Peace %26amp; Love
Well don't go for ferrets or chinchillas unless you plan on buying a pair to keep each other company and no parrots. I'd say a cat honestly...they're very independent but still so loveable!!
