Its not like a bird can hurt you.How do I overcome fear of birds and other pets?If you're always going to have it in a cage, then just get close to the cage, don't put your finger all the way in, just close to the cage. Don't touch it. Just stay near it for some time. It depends on the kind for you to know how it responds to human movements. How do I overcome fear of birds and other pets?
Don;t be scared, it will be i a cage (poor thing, birds should fly you know). Start by hanging around with it in the cage, talking. Then when you muster up some courage give it a treat. How do I overcome fear of birds and other pets?Does your mom know you're scared of birds? If so, why is she getting something that her child is frightened of?

If she insists on getting a bird, ask if you can go along and help pick it out. That may give you some sense of control over the situation. How do I overcome fear of birds and other pets?
Figure out what caused your fear. What does your ornithophobia link back to? Maybe when you were little, a bird escaped from the zoo during your visit. Or maybe you've witnessed a bird attack once in your life. There is almost always a reason as to why you're afraid of something, and you need to go back to it.

Realize that most of your fear is irrational. The chance of a mutant hawk attacking you from above is extremely low. Catch yourself when you come up with these outrageous cases, and tell yourself that will never happen. For most people, telling themselves that it's almost impossible for these things to happen do a great deal of good.

Talk to someone. It doesn't need to be a certified therapist, just someone who you trust. Explain to them what you're afraid of, and why. Just getting your fears out helps. Talk to this person regularly, and give them updates on how you're doing.

Face your fear. Visit a zoo, or go to the park. Just go somewhere where there are bound to be birds. If you go to the park, feed the birds. Let them come close to you, and don't tense up. If you go to a zoo, visit the bird section. Become comfortable with being close to the birds and being around them. After a few days of being close to birds, you should overcome your fear. How do I overcome fear of birds and other pets?
My Aunt has a morbid fear of birds. Knowing that birds can not possibly harm a human being I asked her why she feared them. She said that she knew the bird could not hurt her, but she was afraid of the feet--the claws--because they look like "worms!" Perhaps this is your fear. If you get over it, you will find the fluff of feathers is all you see when you look at a bird, and you will love them! Good luck!
You can't, it's all over for you.
