Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?

Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?Hi. I have had hermit crabs for 2 years now and they are the most interesting critters ever. If you have enough patience. You must have at least a 10 gallon tank for your crabs and I suggest you have more than one because they could get lonely by themselves. A proper diet for them would be fresh carrots, boughten food, salad, even raw fish or chicken because they love all the fresh protein. It will not get them sick if you might worry about it. Keep fresh water for them but make sure they are able to get out okay. Surprisingly, you only have to clean their habitat every 5-6 months. They don't get it very dirty. Please give your hermit crabs baths every week. You can fill your sink halfway with lukewarm water and submerge them for 7-10 seconds, while swaying them softly to get any mites or fesces off of them. I hope that if you have hermit crabs you don't neglect them, they are living beings too.Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?Instead of a water bowl, since they can drown in there, my cousin used to keep a wet sponge in the cage. It probably saved his life on more then one occasion. ^_~Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?I wouldn't get hermit crabs for pets. They don't do anything, besides, if you wanted to show them off you'd tell your friend/co-worker/boss ''You wanna see my crabs'' I think you'd get a great reaction. : ]Any tips for caring for hermit crabs as pets?
