What are some good pets for people with asthma?

My mom has asthma and we are looking for a new pet. We are hoping for a dog or cat, But need some suggestions towards what breed. What are some good pets for people with asthma?Do your homework on breeds of dogs that are "hypoallergenic" or "non-allergic" breeds. Its all about how much dander they shed, not hair. Examples are: Poodles, chihuahuas, Portuguese water dogs, Irish Terriers, Bichon Frise, Wheaten Terriers (I think)

Once you narrow it down (taking into consideration all the other qualities of the dog) find breeders in your area for that dog so you can do a sensitivity test. Make an appointment and go directly to the breeder's house without visiting any other dogs en route. Go inside where the dogs live. Stay at least 20 to 30 minutes unless you have an attack. If no attack, go directly home or whatever, but do not visit any other dogs for several hours to eliminate the possibility of a delayed reaction. The breeder should only have one breed of dog living in that house, otherwise if you are allergic, the test is inconclusive, - it might have been be the other breed.

If there is no reaction, you may have found the dog for you!

Poodles or any poodle mix (like a labradoodle) will be great because they do not shed. What are some good pets for people with asthma?Snakes are great! No allergens. The same goes for any reptile. Ball pythons are particularly nice because they rarely ever bite and take well to handling. Not to mention, they are beautiful animals! What are some good pets for people with asthma?

I have asthma, so I can answer this easily!

It really depends on the level of the asthma, how developed it is and so forth. I don't think that the pets would make much of a difference if you hace severe asthma: I have 2 dogs (a Chihuahua and a German Shepherd) 2 cats (a Siamese and a Blue), and a ferret, and I don't have many problems because of them.

Honestly, it really depends on your mum, and her illness.

^.^

P.s: Ferrets are great, pets, too! What are some good pets for people with asthma?iwould get a beagle or a boxer mix i have asthma to and im ok with them

having asthma is just like having diabetes - you need to know yourself to know what triggers your allergies. i have asthma, but i dont get asthma attacks anymore. whenever i have difficulty in breathing, i just stop and relax to breath properly again. regarding the pet, i just cant live without a dog. i got a shiba inu. the best thing about my inu is that she doesnt bark - not noisy at all. and she's well behave at all times, and somehow she understands what i like, so it makes training easier. and bec i have asthma. she cant live with me, or she cant be constantly in the bed where i sleep in - that would trigger my asthma. but she gets a big nice cage - i think, the cage also gives her her own space, like a bedroom.

a dog would be better. but you need to understand that the dog needs to live separately from you. or your mom's allergies would just get worse. dogs are better, bec they live in cages better than cats. and dogs are more well behaved than cats. and cats' poo are smelly even if you change the cat litter daily. What are some good pets for people with asthma?
i think a lizard a bearded dragon its calm and gentle it doesnt bite if your friend or kid is haveing trouble with the running i think the best thing would be a lizard a dog will run you around a cat it can get out of the house then you would have to track it down so if i was you i would get a lizard also i have asma to and i have a lizard to
My mom has asthma so i know what ur goin thru.... b4 u get anything i wud advice u to let ur mom spend some time with a dog n a cat indivisiually. ( like spending some time with a friends family or relative who has a cat or a dog) cz it actually depends on ur moms asthma type what is a better option. n xplain her the reason y u need her to do so... if u c that shes ok with them u can choose which ever u think ull like.... but yes plz before bringing in a pet in then facing this prob n again giving him back, its better to check 1st to c if she has a problem with them .

not all asthmas get triggered by the same things...

my mom used to have severe asthma b4,but we got a cat n my moms astma actually improved in 2 yrs.i know its weird... but even if it is a considence, my mom tellls everyone bout this.we have him for the last 9 yrs.he is a totally in door cat... n we never regret even for a moment having him in our family...

and another thing... this is an animal we r talking about... it sleeping in another room is ok but plz dnt think of locking it up in a cage...like others above.no matter how big n beautiful the cage is no one likes to b locked up.What are some good pets for people with asthma?
