Next to that was the Bissell Pet model that just died on use about a year ago. We replaced it with the Dyson.
We tried the Eureka that was recommended in CR, the front section with the brushes broke after about 3 months and the suction port just behind the brushes became blocked in that same time frame. It was fine for about the first month but you need a shop vac to clean it out to keep its cleaning ability up.
I like the Dyson because you can kill power to the brush for hard surfaces.

First, try to brush the animals often to cut down on the fur flying around the house. Depending on how much they are shedding, you might want to try a shop vac. They come in large and small sizes, they're cheap, they eat just about anything, and no roller brush to clean. Then again, if you have sensitive carpeting, (anything but flat), you might want to go to the expense of the Dyson Animal. What is the best vacuum for a house with pets- do I really need to spend over $400 on a vacuum?Get a Dyson, it comes with an attachment for pet hair and that right there is worth the money! What is the best vacuum for a house with pets- do I really need to spend over $400 on a vacuum?
They cost quite a bit more..But if you really want to clean your house... Try a Rainbow..We have had many vacuums over the years..but the Rainbow picks up more %26amp; it doesn't put dust back into the air..All the residue is trapped in a water resevoir. It takes a minute or two to dump the resevoir when your're done..but you will be amazed at what it picks up..No more "dust bags".What is the best vacuum for a house with pets- do I really need to spend over $400 on a vacuum?
Hi, A friend recently bought a Eureka boss smart vac ultra 4870 and she loves it. She said it was recommended by a leading consumer magazine and rated right up there with higher priced vacuums. It was priced around 150.00 and really cleans carpets and bare floors. Has hepa filtration, 8 carpet settings, convenient tools and ability to control suction when using tools. Hope this helps.
