Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?

My husbands work requires him to give them a detailed report about any dr visit that is excused during work hours. He cannot return to work unless he gives them this medial information. Is that legal? Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours? No its not legal for them to request medical records but they can request a note from dr that you were there ..Its called hipaa protected health info .....that is between you and ur doctor .Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?
Each company may adopt whatever policy it wants and require employees to "prove" that they needed to be seen by a doctor during work hours. This is a part of most companies' FMLA policy and it is perfectly legal. So, when your spouse visits the doctor, there is usually a co-pay and with that, the patient gets a "receipt". That is proof of the visit and should comply with his company's policy.

BretCan an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?Yes, it's legal. They want to be sure he's is able to work, they want to know that the time he takes off to go to the doctor is being used just that way, and they want to be aware of any possible health issues. Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?
No, that is totally illegal. They can require him to bring a note excusing him from a doctor, but they cannot request specific medical information. That violates several federal and state laws. Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours? They can require a note that he was seen by the doctor and that he is fit to return to work. Unless he is requesting the time off under FMLA or workers compensation that is all they can ask.
Unless the democrats slipped something into the "health" care bill, medical information is still private. A note from the doctor's office explaining that he was there and has no restrictions should be enough. Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?
A note from the DR proving that is the reason he took off is legal. Asking him any medical information is not legal.
I'm not sure about the detailed report. As far as I know, he would only be required to provide a doctor's note stating he was, indeed, at the doctor. Can an employer require your medical information for a Dr visit if that visit was during work hours?
