What information can be found with a social security number?

How much information can someone find out about you with your social security number?

Is it limited at all or there a vast amount of information that can be found out about a person by SSN?What information can be found with a social security number?Anything financial could be found under your Social Security Number. Bank accounts, loans, jobs, salaries, travel, credit cards, etc... Also, if someone wants to dwell deeper and research your SSN (someone with authority such as; courts, police, the IRS, etc...) they could find every last one of your electronic purchases (with a check, card, wire transfer, etc) you have ever made in your life. Your SSN is basically your label given to you by the government. In the eyes of the government, your Social Security Number is higher up on the list that defines who you are, it even beats your name+Birth Certificate. What information can be found with a social security number? An SSN without any other identifying information can't be used to find out very much, other than the issuing state of the SSN. Virtually any database that allows you to look up information by a SSN will also require that you enter other matching information such as name, DOB, or address. Even then, access to such databases is limited to people in certain occupations where the information is generally going to be protected. Online credit report websites are going to require the name, address, DOB, and several other pieces of information before they allow access to a credit report. Even the IRS won't accept a tax return unless the name and DOB on the return match exactly what they have on file for the SSN. This is all intentional. After all, you could randomly come up with 9 digit social security numbers all day long. If this is all that was needed to obtain sensitive information, we would all be in trouble since there is no way to protect against someone just sitting there guessing at random numbers.
