What are some ways of getting information on my great grandfathers history?

he served in world war 2 and i am trying to find information on what he did where he went during the war. i also want to try and see if he got any medals during the war. thank you.What are some ways of getting information on my great grandfathers history?If you are in the US, you can write the Service Record Center in St. Louis and give enough information about him so that they can pull his record.



His name

Date of Birth

Social Security Number if that is available

Place of birth

Place of induction into the service

Home address at time of induction



All of those will assist them, so get as many as you can.
