We just bought a house and never received any information about it. I dont know who the officers are, the address, phone number or even the name of the association. We never got a copy of the bylaws and would like to have that info.
The only thing that we were ever told was that there was one and they charge $150 per year. How do I find out information about our Homeowners Association? The $150.00 per year seems low for association fees, but if that is the case they are what they are.
Prior to closing your real estate agent should have made sure you had a copy of the association's CCR and association by-laws.
There could possibly have been things in these two documents that might have prevented you from purchasing in this area.
These two documents spell out the expectation of each unit owner as well as cost and other things the association has that keep harmony in the area.
In order to get a copy you should ask the association for copies. As a owner you are entitled to a copy of each. There might be a fee for such documents. I am sure you would be told of the cost once you request a copy.
You should also attend the meetings of the association so as to be current of the things that will be happening with the area as well as what is going on.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.
"FIGHT ON"How do I find out information about our Homeowners Association?Pardon me - YIKES!!!!!
You don't know the by-laws? I am hopeful they are rather mundane and pedestrian. But they could be nazi like too. If your grass gets too tall then you get fined. If you want to paint the outside of your home, then hopefully your color choice passes muster. Can you park your cars in your driveway overnight? Most places will allow that but some do not.
Contact your realtor. This person should have furnished you this information before you made an offer. How do I find out information about our Homeowners Association?Ask one of your neighbors. However, you should have received a copy of the bylaws within 15 business days of signing the purchase contract.
Have your realtor check with the listing agent for that information.
If this is new construction, check with the builder.
